Frequently Asked Questions
How many dogs do you walk at once?
This depends on the dogs I am walking (size, gender, behaviour) however I will not walk more than 4 dogs together at one time to ensure all dogs get the attention and enrichment they deserve. I also feel this is safer for everyone, it also means I can give each dog an individual experience.
Do you walk dogs off lead?
I will only walk a dog off lead with the owners permission and if I think the dog’s recall is reliable. Each dog will be individually assessed by me beforehand.
Where do you walk the dogs?
These are some of the places I go to: Brodsworth Community Woodland, Bentley Community Woodland Pit Lake, Woodlands Park, Adwick Park, Brodsworth Country Park, Hexthorpe Park, Lakeside Lake, Hatchell Wood, Sandall Park, Melton Wood Country Park.
My dog doesn’t get on with other dogs, can you still look after her?
I provide solo walks for dogs that prefer their own company and don’t like to be mixed with others. However I won’t be able to provide home boarding since I have my own dogs living in the house with me.
Do you take intact (not spayed/neutered) dogs?
I do take them as long as females are not in season or due anytime soon.
Do you have a secure garden?
My garden is secure with 6 foot fencing around the perimeter and a double gate system. The house and outdoor areas have been checked and approved by a council’s animal licencing officer in order to meet health and safety checks.
Do you offer pick ups and drop offs?
I offer pick up and drop offs only for dog walking. Any dogs staying for daycare or overnight stays will be required to be transported by their owners unless in case of emergency.
How does feeding time work?
I ask owners to bring their own food. We have a different fridge freezer for raw fed dogs. Each dog will be fed separately, even if from the same household. Bowls can be provided if needed. Dogs will be fed according to their individual feeding schedule and needs.
My dog needs regular medications. Can you give them to him?
Pills and ear/eye drops for dogs are administered at no additional charge. If your pet needs more extensive attention to administer medications (i.e. bandage changing, daily maintenance for chronic conditions, etc.) please get in touch to discuss your pet’s needs and determine if there will be an additional charge.
Do you only look after senior dogs?
No. I look after dogs of ALL ages and sizes! I do have a soft spot for senior dogs and my own dogs are of older age, hence the business name.
My dog is crate trained. Do I need to bring her crate?
We have multiple crates of different sizes for dogs that prefer to have a crate to go to. However you can bring your own crate if you want to.
Can I bring my dog’s toys?
Of course! We do have lots of different toys at the Retreat however if your pup has a favourite one, you can bring it along.
